Qualification: Engineering Degree or Diploma

Experience: Preferably 3 - 5 years relevant oil and gas project experience.

Reports to: Senior/Lead Engineer

Supervises: Designers

Functional Duties: assigns and schedules the Piping Engineering activities for a specific Area/Unit under the general direction of the Principal Engineer and may supervise small groups of designers or detailers and junior engineers.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Input to coaching, teaching, mentoring and effective supervision of assigned personnel.
• Assists in the development of Project Piping Engineering CTR’s for review with Chief Engineer.
• Reports to the Senior Engineer the status of Piping Engineering activities and Deliverables.
• Initiates the development of all required discipline deliverables for the assigned area.
• Ensures communication flow, both verbal and written, is maintained within Piping Engineering group and with other engineering disciplines.
• Assists with the upkeep of storage and listing of all (Discipline) Engineering specific standards stored on the computer network
• Coordinates Piping Engineering design activities with other design and engineering groups.
• Identifies deviations in job scope, estimates, and initiates PVN’s.
• Receives and distributes design instructions pertaining to plant design requirements and procedures.
• Represents Area/Unit Piping Engineering in meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, clients, and other Company disciplines, and produces documentation required for conference or meeting notes.
• Reviews and approves Area/Unit Piping Engineering design drawings.
• Submits Area/Unit Piping Engineering design drawings to Principal Engineer for issue.
• Monitors quality control for assigned area.
• Assists in the development of the Piping Engineering project completion report.
• Stand in for Senior Engineer if required during periods of absence
• On assignment to the field, co-ordinates or carries out work on site surveys, measurements, acts of acceptance, and other site engineering activities.

Piping Specific Activities and Deliverables:

• Produce designs either using CAD or manually.
• Produce material counts from documents and input into computer systems.
• Produce other computer based documents as required.
• Check designs and details.
• Produce requisitions and technical appraisals.
• Produce and check design calculations.
• Produce proposals and estimates.
• Produce and check project and departmental procedures and specifications.

Typically, the following list of drawings and documents are produced within the piping department that may require input from Senior Engineer.

• Piping Material Take Off.
• Bulk Material Take Off.
• Purchase Specifications.
• Construction Packs.
• Pipe Stress Calculations.
• Pipe Support Calculations.
• Pipe Material Specification Sheets.
